Pigs love to learn and are very easy to train if they get treats!! The treat we use is puffed rice or puffed wheat. I taught Simon to 'shake a hoof' in about two minutes. I focused on the word 'shake' so as not to confuse him. He responds to 'shake' but others don't know that and laugh when they hear the hoof part! NEVER give a treat when you are training if your pig isn't trying. It enforces bad behaviour. Always be gentle and have lots of patience. You can't yell at a pig,or hit a pit, you have to persuade. Yelling makes them more nervous than they are already Simon also plays a little kids piano, so much that I have to take it away at times he just won't stop. YES, he gets a treat when he plays it, that is why. Does you fellow live in the house?

Joanne
