I've been dating a guy for about eight months who is the owner of a 4-year old male potbellied pig named Jasper. I'm wondering if any of you out there have some suggestions for me on how to make friends with this piggy. Jasper is a bit territorial and is (I think) a little bit confused as to where he now stands relative to me in the heierarchy of the household. (Jasper, of course, thinks he should rank higher than some newcomer!) :-) He's never tried to bite me, but he has tried to charge me twice. I've done some reading, because I really want to try and understand him better. He does really well with me if I give him some food treats (of course!) like raisins or a couple of croutons, but I don't want to be always throwing him food. I'll admit, I was a little intimidated by him at first, but now that I've learned to differentiate between his various grunts and snorts, I can better guage what type of mood he's in. I'm really trying to be patient and make friends with this surprisingly endearing fellow -- any suggestions?

Thanks!
