499. Aggression-FeedbackFrom: Danica2348 499.1. CommentsI have a potbellied pig named Nellie. I got her at 8 weeks and she will be 4 years old in June. I live in a neighborhood in a duplex. Nellie has never considered the backyard a place to "do her duty". She has always held it until we went for a walk. Consequently, she must have at least 3 walks a day to go to the bathroom without getting sick. Firstly, this makes life a bit Nellie-centered. Also, she has bonded so much to me that she will not mind anyone else. She also sleeps in my closet and will not let anyone but me enter my room. She has increasingly become more territorial and protective of me. All was somewhat doable as I always have taken her to the children's park for her walk and all the kids come and pet her. She has a set of tricks she performs for everyone. She has never bitten anyone. Threatened, yes, but no actual contact. Well, she pushed a two-year old over and then went to bite him. I caught her in time and severely scolded her for her behavior. She is close to 200 lbs. and is 43 inches long. She is rather large, but quite healthy and still runs with me across the park. Besides the problems I just mentioned, my neighbors are anything but warm to her walking over their lawns. We are running out of places to walk. I must either move, (to where I do not know) or find a new home for Nellie. I love Nellie, but I am reticent to "put her up for adoption" as she is probably more spoiled and set in her ways than most would put up with. Any feedback would surely be appreciated. Thank you. |
