I have a relative that can no longer keep their pig. He is an adult and about 150 lbs. I live on 3 acres in Northern California. I am at 2,000 ft below the snow line, but we do get freezing now and again during the winter.

Questions:

Transporting - Any recommendations on method, things to do during a 10 hour drive, safety, etc.

Other Animals - I have horses, dogs, a cat, chickens, and a rabbit. All run around on the property and everyone gets along. I believe this pig has had exposure to a dog. Any reactions to this managerie?

Hooves - If the pig has a large enough area to move around, will he need to be trimmed?

Walking - How far can pigs be walked if in good condition?

General suggestions to ease this transition for the pig.
