28. I want a piglet, -- should I buy or adopt? From: bananap@yahoo.com 28.1. CommentsHi, my name is Edward. I'm a 34-years old single man living in San Jose, California. Currently, I live with my Mom, my younger sister and her boyfriend, no children or pets. I have a one-story house with nice hardwoood floor, and an average-sized back yard. I've done some researches and know that I would like to have a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig as a pet. But I'm still quite new in this area. Please give me your advice as whether I should purchase the pig or adopt it. I prefer my pig to be small and all black (or lots of black spots). Many articles online advise to purchase from reputable breeders. I don't mind to spend money, but as a person who was once very poor, I like the idea of helping out the less fortunate animals from rescue centers. However, I'm at least a little afraid of the risks involved in adopting a pig with uncertain origins. Based on my situations, please tell me what you think ... Am I a good candidate for owning a pig? Should I buy or adopt? Please also tell me if you know of any excellent breeders, farms, and/or rescue centers -- the closer to Northern California the better! Thank you for your time!!!
