I had to have my pig's tusks trimmed yesterday. It was awful . . . he screamed the whole time even though the vet had given him something to knock him out. The vet used something which looked like a garden tool you'd use to cut tree limbs and broke the tusks off really close (half inch)to the gum line(one of which had gotten so long it had begun to grow into his jaw). Is there not a better way to do this? It was one of the worst experiences I've had . . . and I can only imagine what my pig thinks about the event. I've been thinking I will never put him through this again, but I know the tusks will continue to grow.
