21. Re:fixing aggresive behaviorFrom: msspiffy@webtv.net 21.1. CommentsI have had a pot-bellied for several years. Tootie is her name. Although I love Tootie I would not recommend to anyone to get a pig. First, they are little and cute and then as they get older (and bigger) it is a problem. Tootie totally destroyed my kitchen floor (rooted up the carpet) The yard now is a mess from where she walks and has tromped the grass to nothing. She is very protective of the home and I have to watch that she doesn't attack people (with little warning) She is cranky and hard to get along with. But - I got her and feel responsible for her so she can stay here until her time to go comes. Thanks heavens I live on 10 acres and in the woods. They also poop A LOT and the weekly chore produces a grocery paper bag full of the "stuff". You can forget flowers as they will root them up too. I did watch her diet and she still got around 200 pounds. I don't know how people keep these pigs in their houses. If I had known what I know now I would not have gotten a pig. 22. Seeking New HomeFrom: russellv@penn.com / Barb 22.1. CommentsI am seeking information on rescue groups that provide homes for pigs. We are located in Northwestern PA. The pig in question has developed house soiling problems and the owner no longer feels she is capable of taking care of him. She would like to place him with a shelter/rescue group of some sort, but doesn't know where to look. She is willing to travel some distance in order to find him a good place. NY, VA, WV, PA, OH, MD are all within her traveling range. |
